NIGERIA DO NOT NEED TO BE REWARDED FOR MANDELA'S FREEDOM

The presence of His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the President and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, at the Funeral Service held for Madiba was most significant in our history. There is nothing most honourable than how the organisers have recognized the presence of Nigeria like they did to numerous other nations that were represented by their presidents and prime ministers.

We should learn from the life of Mandela. Our politicians need to change and stop being myopic and self-centered. Mandela touched the lives of many, both black and white. He deserved more than the celebration and the occasion is enough for everybody to learn from all over the world without exempting Nigeria.

But it is most worrisome that it seems today's politicians in Nigeria have failed to learn from his life. However, we need to enlightened those who are confused or misguided that Nigeria was not well treated at the funeral that they are making a serious mistake. Not everything should be politicized. Mandela's funeral should not be turned into a political campaign excuse in Nigerian. The occasion was a place where everybody body around the world (both in person and by representation) went to pay last respect for Nelson Mandela.

Some members of the National House of Assembly and Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos State who are of the opinion that not giving microphone to President Jonathan to talk at the occasion was disrespectful for Nigeria got it wrong. It is not until he talk there that we express our last respect for Nelson Mandela as a nation. The President did not represented himself, he represented the whole Nigeria. Wake-up! Being given the microphone is not most important. Therefore, emphasizing on microphone is like being concerned about going to the funeral to render eye service to the family of Mandela and people of South Africa. That is very petty and worthless.

We Nigerians dissociate ourselves from myopic opinion. The world is mourning and we are concerned too! We should not be petty minded. Rather, we should take advantage of Mandela's death to start focusing doing greater positive things to transform our nation better. We are not worried over speaking at Mandela's funeral service. It is not fair to condemn the organizers that they do not respect Nigeria? That is not fair, and not the voice of the people of Nigeria.

Of course, President Jonathan did not represented himself or any political organisation or group at the funeral. He represented Nigeria as a whole. At the occasion, he did well, and he was also respected by the family of Mandela and the organizers. Nigeria was not part of the organizers of the occasion, so it is not possible for us to dictate who speaks at the occasion. We went there to pay Madiba our last respect. And among other nations that were present, Nigeria was not excluded. So, asking for microphone is not necessary.

Note that before Mandela's death, most of those who spoke at his funeral were more closer to him. They were not just recognized because they are Presidents of their countries; they were recognized because they were seen as part of the characters to play significant roles in the agenda of the funeral service, particularly considering the way Mandela would have wanted the service to be if he was alive.

I therefore appeal to His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, and others who are concerned not to see our last respect for Mandela as a place to talk because you are a president. We contributed in agitation for the freedom of Mandela not because we wanted a reward. We did that because it was necessary and he deserved it. It was worth fighting or dying for. Let us focus more on improving our nation better. Let us learn from Mandela. It is time for sober reflection. A great man is gone!

Even though he is dead and gone now, his memory live in our heart. He did not used guns to bring peace nor enrich himself at the detriment of his own people, he used his goodwill. He has a forgiven heart and never practiced a do or die politics, or victimized his oppositions because they did not voted for him. He never imposed political candidates on people because 'he is the father of South Africa'. He did not turned himself to godfather on anybody and collect returns to further corrupt the system. He was not an eye service leader pretending he is working when he is not. He is our great hero. Please respect him and his family because he deserves our respect and not eye service.

IBU GIVES NIGERIA DEADLINE TO HOST THE GWR FIGHT

Due to appeal for Nigeria to still host the Guinness World Record (GWR) Fight, the International Boxing Union (IBU) on the 22nd of June, 2013, granted a final extension time for Nigeria to demonstrate interest and good faith in hosting the GWR fight. The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) is expected to complete all details for the record breaking fight card to be held in Nigeria. The time is running out right now. Will government meet up or fail this deadline will determine if peace and progress is still ever achievable again in Nigeria by this government?

The numerous benefits of Nigeria hosting the GWR Fight cannot be overemphasized. At this crucial time that Nigeria is confronted with nemerous security challenges and other social problems, there is need for government to pay keen attention to host the GWR Fight and use the event to promote unity, peace and progress in Nigeria. Nigeria can take advantage of this historic event in the world to discourage crime and all manner of terrorism.

Already, the IBU has contacted all the parties and fighters that will come to Nigeria, and they anxiously await the official confirmation from the IBU of the fight occurring. This will make them finalize to come to Nigeria and be a part of history. For Nigeria to host the GWR Fight, the primary requirement is for the FGN to pay the IBU Sanctioning Fees of USD$I Million to be transferred and received by the IBU not later than 5 o’clock pm New York time on 7th of June 2013.

The secondary requirement is the FGN preparing such condusive and secured atmosphere to host the world. Considering the insecurity challenges confronting Nigeria, this is avenue for the government to build more cooperation of the people and improve unity, peace and progress while all persons and parties involved will have their place iin history forever.

What are the consequences of government failure to host this fight?
The challengers for the WBF/IBU World Title will move to fight the next available contender for the title. According to Don “Moose” Lewis, the spokesman of IBU, the failure will puts Champion Bash Ali in a position of not having another opportunity to fight for the IBU title until spring of 2014. Upon government failure to pay, the IBU requested that Champion Bash Ali should give consent at 5:01 pm New York time on 7th of June 2013 for the body to to immediately accept the standing offer of €10Million plus twenty percent (20%) of pay-per view revenues from the promotion group in Germany for the WBF/IBU Cruiserweight World titles.

That means that the fight will no longer hold in Nigeria this year. The fight will be post-poned to hold in Germany next year. The historic occassion will be used to promote sports in Germany. Just imagine, even at this time that Nigeria needs sports most to engage more youths. Cosidering the age factor, the greater opponent against Champion Bash Ali is time and not the man opposite him in the ring. Therefore, it is the hope of everybody that he is successful in this final push to fulfill not only the dream to get Nigeria to host the FIRST Guinness World Record bout in Africa, but to also establish Sports Academies and a Sports equipment manufacturing factory in Nigeria.

Fellow Africans, please, let it be on record that all efforts are on ground right now to encourage the government of Nigeria to use all possible avenues to engage our youths positive but have decided to throw this one in the wind. Let it be on record too that Champion Bash Ali have exhausted all cordial avenues to make the FGN host the world and make the historical bout a success.

The consequences of FGN failure to host this bout and encourage sports development to discourage all manner of crime and terrorist acts will make more youths especially not believe in Nigeria. See Nigeria government the number one dream killer that is not ready to change.

The Way Forward?
Apart from the IBU Sanctioning Fees of USD$I Million to be received by IBU latest on 7th of June, there are other cost and local preparations involved which require that the government inaugurates the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the fight and mandate them with adequate fund to succeed. All these can still be done on or before Friday, 7th of June, 2013. And failure of the government to do the right thing is an expression of its desire to see Nigeria destroyed by encouraging more youths to be idle and become political thugs and satanists to rig elections and terrorize the nation to enrich the pockets of criminals.

I PLEDGE TO NIGERIA MY COUNTRY (PART TWO)

The Office of the Commander-in-chief of Armed Forces is not for decoration of status. It is for defending and protecting Nigeria and Nigerians as a whole. It complements the Office of the Presidency. Antagonists against President Goodluck Jonathan using the power is a waste of time. Emergency rule is already ongoing, and the President is in control. It is his responsibility to also deploy more helpful strategies to facilitate civil-military cooperation in the affected areas. The general welfare of our citizens and foreigners should be guaranteed if our economy must progress.

Note today that sports can facilitate civil-military cooperation in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states. The Bash Ali Guinness World Record Fight will create such avenue for promoting social interaction that  will discourage crime and terrorism. A government that is pursuing good vision will realize greater success.

The youths must be inspired. Not by words of mouth or mere promises. They are convinced by the world around them in the face of challenges they encounter everyday. Therefore, it is sad when government allowed a World Title Belt (that many boxers all over the world dream to win in life) be ridiculed in Nigeria. That belt do not deserve to be treated like a commodity of poor-honor at the gate of the national secretariat of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.

Why do you treat champions like rag in Nigeria? This is degrading and alarming! It is an indication that there is no more reward for good work. This has caused various youth unrest across the country. Experience also shown that most Nigerian youths do not believe in the system, or the society itself. Therefore, it is worsening matters when government neglect or dishonor our heroes. This is counter-productive to the success of fighting terrorism all over Nigeria.

Government attention to solving the menace of terrorism and other associated wrongful acts in Nigeria must focus on meeting the need of the law abiding citizens and foreigners in the affected areas, and not just pampering militants and Boko Haram. Many people desire that government is up to the task of fighting all manner of terrorism and crime to total standstill. Things that will benefit the whole nation and discourage terrorism (like

The Guinness World Record Fight of the Bash Ali deserve a better attention of government to realize the following objectives among others:

  1. 1. To enter the Guinness World Book of Record as the oldest boxer to win a world title.
  2. To be the first in Africa to achieve the above feat.
  3. To boost the image of Nigeria before the International Community.
  4. Opportunity to groom Nigerian youths and adults to become World Athlete Champions.

At this juncture, it is good that the Federal Government play its role to make the GWR Fight a success. There is no more time to waste. Government should cooperate with IBU and other international boxing bodies to also use the GWR Fight discourage crimes and terrorism in Nigeria. Ensure that the objectives are realized. The fight will be the first of its kind on the crust of Africa. Nigeria as a nation will benefit most from hosting the fight; and these benefits include the following:

  1. Established five sports academies with Olympic standard size swimming pool across Nigeria
  2. Establish sports equipment manufacturing factory in Nigeria
  3. Employment creation for both Nigerian youths and adults in the areas of athletics management, promotion, training, etc.
  4. Opportunity for Nigeria to showcase sports potentials as a World Tourism destination
  5. Platform for businesses to showcase their products, services and ideas
  6. Boost transformation agenda of government
  7. Discourage crime, terrorism and youths involving in wrongful acts

Get inspired... get empowered... embrace sports and  shun terrorism now. Nigeria can cooperate with more international bodies and agencies to succeed against all manner of terrorism, and encourage local and foreign investment in sports. This historical fight will engage more youths in sports and strengthen civil-military cooperation in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.

SOLUTION TO THE MENACE OF BOKO HARAM: THE WAY OUT (PART ONE)

Nigerian government should stop beating around the bush. Serious matters touching on the general welfare of all citizens and foreigners in our nation should be handled diligently and according to the rule of law. We must ensure orderliness by not failing to properly check crime, punish offenders and prevent re-occurrences.

Just like corporate social responsibility, the solution is community partnership task. The government should stop seeing itself as reaching the doorsteps of everybody in the society because it operates in a manner that makes majority of the people see government in Nigeria as burden and problems. There is always complain against government. If they come around, they come with bills, fines, rules and enforcement with the force of exploitation. What they have to steal is not enough for them, it is sad that they must still steal our daily bread and call us idiots.

Government that complicate issues should not expect peace and progress as result. The interest of a single man does not make a government. Leadership is by demonstration, not by the 'authority of the office' or 'power conferred' upon status. We must stop that misorientation in Nigeria! Give proper orientation to all, not segregating your own families and friends to school, live and enjoy flamboyant life abroad. Provide good health for all, food for all, shelter for all, hope for all. That is why we are one nation!

Know that there is no magic solution to terrorism and crime in Nigeria than we ourselves taking it as one of the greatest tasks for each and every Nigerian. That is what we should be doing!! Not taking it as avenues to play dirty politics and fat from destruction of others. Note that the problems we are confronting today are the results from yesterday in Nigeria. So, why are we not allowing other Nigerians apart from politicians to be tested and get involved in real handling our problems. See how far and how long the government has gone without good results to show for it.

Pardon for criminals is not a solution to show for it. Bringing security from abroad when we have enough best hands in the various Nigerian forces is corruptible. Giving out all the contracts to foreign companies because of 'kick-backs' purposely to inflate budgets... corruption and all the dirty politics is not good! The situation is not good at all!!! Despite many Nigerians are unemployed, government contracting big capital income projects and working opportunities to foreign companies will continue to render many more of our existing businesses and able hands jobless and idle. It is not good to run everybody down because you are the one elected there today.

It is good if you respect other people's feelings. Politicians are not the solution to all our problems. Presidency is the leadership power house to address the problem. In a situation where good results are not forthcoming, then pure anti-cultists, relevant activists and law enforcers who have the knowledge, the experience, the past, the approach and understanding for handling terrorism problems should be given a chance to contribute in Nigeria. We don't need foreigners until we have exhausted our own experts. Get them involved... get them empowered! Certificates and connection is not a good criteria. The reality of ideas through its vision and impact is important for whom to be among the crisis management teams.

Security talks will compliment better when the right people are in charge of the situation. Acting right or wrong, or not acting at all, at any given point in term has an impact in crisis resolution and management. Give us a chance on this matter in Nigeria, after all, it is a voluntary one and not an appointment. Boko Haram are not spirits, they are not ghosts. They are human and whether holy or barbaric, let's give them the open air to discuss confidently with all Nigerians. This is not too much for the government to allow by standing out of the way and give all support for the best hands to work on further.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA NEEDS AMNESTY AND NOT BOKO HARAM (PART THREE)

"We cannot run, dodge or duck from our responsibility. It is our responsibility to bring law and order. It is our duty to support good government or assist build a better government, and when necessary, rebuild our dear nation. Responsibility sometimes is not a burden, it is a blessing when we all play our roles diligently and sincerely. Good leadership is a problem Nigeria can overcome if we all become responsible and disciplined enough to make government succeed doing the right thing."

We do not need to create avenues for encouraging crime, terrorism and lawlessness in our society. Those who are wrong should be made to accept their blames and punishment. Government attention and actions should not focus on conflict resolution and management alone. There are other task demanding areas that require better attention of government too. So, we need to rebuild Nigeria, and the best time to do it better is now.

Government should should separate politics from the handling of serious security situations and put all relevant government agencies in best shape to successfully curb crime and terrorism in Nigeria. All discoveries, arrests and investigations on Boko Haram sects in the past and present should have provided to update the public with hope. You don't just keep quiet and arguing with people who are not targets and victims of the attacks. Come out with useful information and guidelines to deal better on the issue now. The various dialogue and discussions with the sect in-camera and off-camera are good for professional reviewed that can subjected all analysis to serious criticism and give room for diligence and due process. Dead people don't live in Nigeria. There are no ghost citizens in Nigeria. We are all human. Therefore, government should exercise control over affairs of governing Nigeria without allowing corruption and poor handling complicate problems.

We need proactive and holistic approach to handle terrorism. Terrorism is a worldwide problem and there is a need for us to worry when external terrorist organisations are connected in providing logistics, weapons and funds for local terrorist organisations in Nigeria. Right now, competent hands should be invited and allowed on the matter. Government must be focused to ensure that every human life is protected jealously irrespective of tribe and political interest. This government can achieve meaningful peace and progress in due course if law and order is respected, and competency given importance to allow better on all matters. Competency should not be based on anointing children of the same failed politicians and leaders to handle serious social problem.

Likewise, the federal government and state governments should be up-to-task to handle the responsibility of their offices. The security votes and others allotted in budgets to their offices is meant for them to take proper control of their areas. What have they been using these funds for that the results are not showing? All the public office holders were not elected by ghosts, and they are not governing over dead people. So, governments at all levels should start operating as governing the living. The terrorists in Nigeria are not invisible to the government who have been connecting and dealing all alone with them, even in 'proxy'.

It is not too late for government agencies and crises handlers to be proactive, competent and up to the task of delivering good results as expected. Everything cannot just be politics! We need government to organize transparent and proper dialogue with the sect as it has popularized to have done. Again, if there is no skeleton in anybody's cupboard, don't let us force amnesty on Boko Haram creating political propaganda where the ghosts will appear from nowhere with weapons and surrender. Likely, some of those they have arrested before will be among. And before we know it, more youths will become terrorists to gain attention and wealth given to terrorists by government.

Remember the case of UMAR FAROUK ABDULMUTALLAB. What made him do what he did and how did he got to such level? We always need competent hands of any small and big social problem issue. We don't need to play politics with problems consuming human lives and violate public safety. We should stop deceiving ourselves that Nigerians are not the terrorists bombing in the north. We should be making efforts to check ourselves and stop blaming others for our own shortcomings.

What we need to ask the Boko Haram now is what exactly do they want? If they don't want amnesty, they must want something else. What is it?

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA NEEDS AMNESTY AND NOT BOKO HARAM (PART TWO)

"When we take responsibility, we admit we are the ones responsible for the choices we make. We, not other people or events, are responsible for the way we think, feel, act or fail to act when required. It is our life, and we are in charge of it. We are free to make nonsense or the best out of it. Although we might not be responsible for all that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we think, feel and act when they happened to us."

Considering the consequences of terrorist acts in our society if not totally discouraged, on the issue of Boko Haram and its negative influence like the militants on the upcoming generations, we need to re-assess the dialogue so far between government and all the Boko Haram sects. What were the outcome of the various discussions and investigations? How does the recommendation from the facts finding dictate the step for amnesty? What are the implication of pardon for the terrorists? Will there be proper counselling and rehabilitation for them? Is there no need for legal justification for pardoning criminals in Nigeria? How will crime and terrorism be totally discouraged among the youths and politicians? How do we restore peace and focus our abundant resources on development and invention of a better life for all? How do we PROGRESS NOW?

A good government carry its citizens along in running affairs of government in order to be on top of all situations and crises. It is the responsibility of government to ensure that the welfare of the citizens and visitors are guaranteed. Not foreigners or visitors to come and tell what to do or not to do. It is the responsibility of the government to provide secured atmosphere for comfortable life. Without security, there can be no peace. Without justice there can be no progress. A corrupt government cannot succeed in this kind of difficult situation if care is not taken - it will definitely fail. It is bad when government pamper and protect criminals from punishment or back them against public interest. It is wrong and a crime for government to encourage crime and terrorism.

Government should not be granting amnesty to terrorists without considering due process. Did America grant Mutalab amnesty for suicide bombing? Therefore, we should not be so much concerned about the opinion of foreigners that encourage meaningless pardon for criminals. Will granting of amnesty make Nigeria safer and better? We have a choice as people, to be most concerned about our survival and the choice to run our own lives. We don't need to be confused by eye service that do us no good. Confusion and crises have been used to exploit and rob our resources for the development of other places other than Nigeria. The rest of the world should support Nigeria to punish offenders and criminals, and stop encouraging meaningless pardon for criminals.

Government must change its nonchalant attitude and poor approach towards handling terrorism in Nigeria. It must be responsive and objective in all its dealing on the matter across the nation. Government should command respect and control on all affairs of the nation. The Federal Government must stop all its corruption and insensitivity to the suffering of its people and unnecessary loss of innocent lives. Personalities in government should be good role models for our youths especially, and not criminals and sadists who arm our youths for selfish political and economic gain in the affairs of governance.

To emphasize on a point of correction, don't force amnesty on Boko Haram members! Since the sect have rejected amnesty, what else do they want? Why is it that the amnesty proposed to them by the Federal Government for killing and destruction in the north should be given to the Federal Government? Why is it that it is the government that deserves pardon?

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA NEEDS AMNESTY AND NOT BOKO HARAM (PART ONE)

In response to Amnesty proposal to members of the Boko Haram sect by the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, the group rejected the offer saying that they do nothing wrong to deserved the pardon. Why? The group said it is the Federal Government of Nigeria that need the amnesty, and not them.

It is worrisome again to hear that the sect is rejecting pardon for all their crimes. May be, they are not really responsible for the offences, or may be, conscience is worrying them to desire punishment than pardon. Which ever it is, some people are responsible for the killing. Dialogue is done by communication. Let us maintain open communication with the sect now. They claimed that the Federal Government is responsible for the offence probably why it deserves the amnesty. Our own response to the sect is: "How come the Federal Government deserves amnesty and not Boko Haram?"
